Remembering Dr. Frank Mead Frank Waldreth Mead, 90, of Gainesville, passed away on October 12, 2012 at E.T. York Hospice Care Center. Frank was born in Columbus, Ohio on June 11, 1922 to Arlington and Edith Mead. He served in WWII in the U.S. Army. He worked as an Entomologist for the State of Florida Dept. of Agriculture from 1953 to his retirement in 1994. He attained a BS and MS from Ohio (Continued...) | |||

| All Students: Please remember that the Front Office, Attendance Office, and Guidance Office will not accept forgotten items, such as PE uniforms, extra curricular items, food deliveries, and the like. Please do not ask for your parents to bring such items to school for you to pick up or have delivered. All secondary students who are not in a help session or club after school need to be off campus by 3:10pm. If you are not off campus by then, you will be asked to go to the Library. Reminder that no students are to be in front of the PAC after school. Secondary Students are allowed only to park in the gym parking lot. You must have a 2012-2013 parking decal which can be purchased in the business office. Auditions for Peter Pan & Wendy are today (8/28) from 3pm to 5:15pm. Memorize a 1-2 min. monologue. Go for something child-like, adventurous, or humorous… If you can do a British accent, that would be great. If not, just speak good clear English. PKY Fall Baseball player meeting today, (8/28) at 3:00 in the baseball dugout. Any PKY student is eligible to play fall baseball. Every player must have an updated physical and parent consent form on file with the trainer prior to working out with the team. Club: Interested High School students who want to join the High School Ceramics Club should meet with Dr. Skye right after school today (8/28)in N-371. The Club will focus on wheel thrown pottery. Space is limited and will require a consistent commitment. Any faculty who wish to try their hand at the wheel are also invited. Hispanic Honor Society has a mandatory meeting on Wednesday (8/29) during lunch in Mrs. Santiago's room Z-1427 High school students: The first meeting of the high school literary magazine staff will be held in Mr. Lemstrom’s room, L353, on Thursday, August 30 during high school lunch. We need your help and creativity! Girls soccer interest meeting next Thursday (8/30) at 3:30pm in Coach Hazans room. Varsity Cheerleaders will be selling snow cones. | |||

| Gainesville drummer and PK Yonge alumnus, Mark “Bam Bam” McConnell, passed away in Gainesville on May 24th. Mark is best known for his work in Sebastian Bach’s touring band from 1997 through 2005.
